STRUCTURAL ASSESSMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING STRUCTURES

NextRoad supports infrastructure managers in structural assessment to analyze the behavior of civil engineering structures and verify their capacity to withstand operational loads.

In this context, these studies provide a better understanding of structural performance and help guide maintenance, repair, or strengthening decisions.

Objective

The objective of structural assessment is to evaluate the mechanical performance of structures and verify their ability to withstand operational loads.

To do so, studies are carried out to determine load-bearing capacity, analyze structural behavior, and check compliance with current or future load conditions.

As a result, they help ensure safety and support appropriate maintenance strategies.

Structural Monitoring of Civil Engineering Structures

What data do we collect?

Depending on the scope of the project, we collect different types of data:

      • Geometric data and characteristics of the structure
      • Results from investigations and inspections
      • Data on materials and reinforcement
      • Operational loads and calculation assumptions

How?

Studies are carried out using calculation models and structural analysis methods.

In practice, they may include:

      • load-bearing capacity calculations (SST)
      • or full structural reassessment

In addition, these analyses take into account the actual characteristics of the structure as well as all available data.

As a result, they make it possible to assess the safety level of the structure and its fitness for service.
