The association ‘For Serene and Sustainable Mobility’ has approached the Council of State to denounce the scourge of non-compliant speed bumps. This directly concerns our daily life and our safety!

Aware of this issue, NextRoad has developed a service for local authorities to assess the compliance of their speed bumps. Several missions have already been successfully completed. With our 14 agencies spread across the French territory, we are able to support all local authorities: limit the risks of prosecution, contact us!

Appointments not to be missed!

This Tuesday, June 8 marked the launch of the Tuesdays of Maintenance des Routes de France (MRF). Unionized MRF, we will be at the rendezvous every 2nd Tuesday of the month on the idealCo platform to participate and exchange around the objective of MRF “together, for sustainable roads”.

The objective of these new appointments?

It is Maintenance des Routes de France that says it: “The red thread will be the sharing of experience to help you, accompany you in the search for the most efficient service providers through sourcing and definition of the most relevant needs possible. We also have projects on the constitution of professional standards such as Certificates of Professional Qualification (CQP) and standards such as implementation standards.”

You can not be present e but the subject interests you?

A replay will be available. Moreover, you can find the one of the first session on idealCo by click >>here<

NextRoad completed a bridge inspection by drone on the Scie Viaduct in Normandy. The project helped improve inspection quality, team safety, and maintenance planning for this major road structure.

https://www.nextroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/VIADUC-DE-LA-SCIE-linkedin.mp4

Structures linked to road networks such as bridges and viaducts, tunnels, toll canopies, large noise walls are a major national issue and their maintenance is essential. Everyone remembers the Genoa disaster that occurred on August 14, 2018, which raised in our country the issue of safety and maintenance of bridges. To meet this need, for more than a year, the NextRoad Group has decided to dedicate a service to this issue: the Diagnostic and Structural Pathology department, specialist in this field.

The Viaduct of la Scie

Crossing the Scie valley near Manéhouville, in the Seine-Maritime region, is the Scie viaduct that will facilitate the journey from Rouen to Dieppe. This magnificent curved structure of 35 m in height extends over 500 m in length, it consists of 6 concrete piers spaced 75 m apart and a steel deck formed by 37 m spars.

This viaduct absorbs the passage of 15,000 vehicles per day through the town of Saint-Aubin-sur-Scie.

The mission of the NextRoad Group’s Diagnostic & Pathology Structure Department is to inspect the entire structure to provide local authorities and project owners with a detailed analysis of its general condition and to inform them of the need to carry out any repairs.

Work inspection with reduced environmental impact

For this mission in partnership with the company DBI, NextRoad has chosen to use a drone for the inspection of the lower parts and underdeck instead of a traditional negative bridge; a decision with a positive impact on the environment and the safety of the teams. Indeed, the use of a drone saves the CO2 emissions of a return trip of a semi carrier and allows to intervene safely for the teams, normally suspended at 35m above the ground.

The passage of the drone is a real plus for this mission, it allows to bring a remarkable precision on the georeferencing of the photos.

In addition to the intervention of the drone, a team composed of 3 NextRoadien ne s to identify the degradation of the upper part of the structure.

Recall that the MLPL is an already qualified device for receiving new rolling layers (Technical Guide 2014).

The major difference between the two systems lies in the speed at which measurements are taken: at constant speed (72 km/h) for the LPA but at variable speed for the MLPL: from 30 km/h (toll stations, ramps, urban areas, roundabouts) to 130 km/h (motorway expressway).

So why continue on our motorways to make signaling personnel, road users and our teams take risks when technical solutions exist?

Complementary cross-tests were thus carried out in collaboration with CEREMA, NextRoad and the National Road Surface Characteristics Group.

The experiment took place on a new bearing layer with varying coatings and conditions.

The objective is (re)validate that the 2 devices give quite comparable results.

Let’s move forward together and be open to new technologies to advance our business and security!
